2026 CPD CALENDAR PUBLISHED: JOHANNESBURG, DURBAN, CAPE TOWN

Continuing professional development is not an administrative chore. It is how the Association keeps its certificate of good standing meaningful — to the Masters' offices, the CIPC, the banks and the state entities that rely on it — and how practitioners at every stage of the profession stay current with a statute book that does not stand still. The 2026 programme is built around the work members actually do: rescue plans, creditors' meetings, and the licensing gateway for the next generation. The programme is delivered by senior practitioners and counsel, and each seminar carries CPD points recognised for the Association's own good-standing requirements.

Provisional dates are published now, rather than once every detail is settled, for a practical reason: practitioners plan estate timetables, creditors' meetings and court commitments months ahead, and a calendar that arrives late is a calendar members cannot use. Where a date must move, the events page will be updated and registered delegates will be notified directly by the secretariat.

14 August 2026 — Johannesburg

Business Rescue in Practice: the s151 Plan from Draft to Vote

CPD seminar, four points. The rescue plan is where Chapter 6 succeeds or fails. This session works through the preparation and publication of the plan under section 150 of the Companies Act 71 of 2008, the meeting to consider it under section 151, the approval thresholds in section 152, and the remedies under section 153 when a plan is rejected — including the binding offer and the application to set aside the vote. The material is grounded in case studies drawn from recent Gauteng rescues.

11 September 2026 — Durban

Meetings of Creditors: Proof of Claims, Interrogations and the Master

CPD seminar, three points. The engine room of insolvency administration: proof of claims under section 44 of the Insolvency Act 24 of 1936, and interrogations under the winding-up provisions of the previous Companies Act, preserved in transition under the 2008 Act. The session covers running compliant meetings, handling contested claims, and the practitioner's reporting duties to the Master.

9 October 2026 — Cape Town

Getting Licensed: CIPC e-Services and the BRP Application

Workshop, aspirant stream. A hands-on session for aspirant members preparing licence applications on Form CoR 126.1 through the CIPC's e-services platform — CV framing, experience records, and the conditional licences available to junior practitioners. Delegates should read the Association's practice note on becoming a licensed BRP before attending; the workshop builds directly on it.

27 November 2026 — Johannesburg

Annual General Meeting & Gala Dinner

The flagship gathering of the Association's year, open to members. The AGM elects the National Executive, reviews the year's advocacy and programmes, and formally recognises members admitted to Masters' panels during 2026. The gala dinner that follows is the one evening of the year on which the whole profession the Association is building sits in a single room. Members will receive notice and credentials from the secretariat in the ordinary course.

Points, recognition and registration

ABRIPSA seminars carry CPD points recognised for the Association's own good-standing requirements. Members whose primary professional bodies impose separate CPD obligations — the Legal Practice Council, SAICA or SAIPA among them — should confirm recognition with those bodies directly.
